Privacy Policy — LeafyCam
Last updated: March 14, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how LeafyCam (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Android camera application (“LeafyCam” or “the app”) and applies to all users. By using LeafyCam, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Who we are
LeafyCam is a camera and video recording application for Android. The app is provided by the developer listed on the Google Play Store listing for LeafyCam. For the purposes of data protection law, the developer is the data controller for data processed in connection with the app (where applicable).
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
We do not require you to create an account or log in. Any settings you choose (e.g. camera resolution, video quality, watermark on/off) are stored only on your device and are not sent to our servers.
2.2 Information collected automatically (device & app usage)
- Advertising and analytics (via third parties): Our app uses Google AdMob to show ads (including interstitial and rewarded video ads). When you use the app, Google may collect or receive: advertising ID (e.g. Android Advertising ID), device identifiers, IP address, coarse location (e.g. country), and information about how you interact with ads and the app. This data is used to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and (where you have consented) for ad personalization. You can control ad personalization in your device settings (e.g. “Opt out of Ads Personalization” in Android).
- Consent (User Messaging Platform): In certain regions (e.g. European Economic Area, UK), we use Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalized advertising. Your consent choices are stored and used to determine which ads to show. You can change your choices at any time via Settings → Privacy settings in the app (when available in your region).
2.3 Information used only on your device (not sent to us)
- Camera and microphone: We request access to the camera and microphone only to provide photo capture and video recording. Photos and videos are saved by the app to your device’s storage (e.g. gallery/MediaStore). We do not upload, store, or access your photos or videos on our servers.
- Local storage: App settings, preferences, and cached data (e.g. for loading images in the gallery) are stored locally on your device. We do not collect this data.
3. How we use information
- To provide and improve the app (camera, video, gallery, settings).
- To show ads (via Google AdMob) and, where you have consented, to personalize ads.
- To comply with law and protect our rights and safety.
We do not use your photos, videos, or locally stored settings for advertising or analytics.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data as follows:
- Google (AdMob, UMP): Data described in section 2.2 is processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and their ad partner policies. This may include sharing with ad partners for ad delivery and measurement.
- Legal: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our or others’ rights and safety.
We do not share your photos, videos, or locally stored app data with third parties.
5. Data retention
Data stored only on your device (photos, videos, settings) remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Data collected by Google for advertising is subject to Google’s retention practices (see their privacy policy). We do not retain your personal data on our own servers for the operation of the app.
6. Security
We rely on your device’s security for locally stored data. Communication with Google’s services (e.g. AdMob) is over secure channels. We do not transmit your photos or videos to our servers.
7. Your rights and choices
- Ad personalization: You can opt out of personalized ads in your Android device settings (e.g. Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization).
- Consent (EEA/UK): If you are in a region where we show a consent form, you can change your choices at any time via Settings → Privacy settings in the app.
- Access, deletion, portability: For data held by Google, you can use Google’s tools (e.g. Google Account). For data we hold (if any), you may contact us (see section 11) to request access, correction, or deletion where the law applies.
- EEA/UK (GDPR): If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have rights such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and the right to object or withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell personal information. You may have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information and to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising; ad-related data is controlled by Google as described above.
8. Children
LeafyCam is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. International transfers
Data processed by Google may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence. Google relies on appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) where required. We do not transfer your personal data to our own servers in other countries for the operation of the app.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the app (Settings → Privacy policy) and, where required by law, we will notify you of material changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact
This policy is designed to comply with Google Play’s Developer Program Policies and applicable data protection laws (e.g. GDPR, CCPA).
